THE FRANCISCANS

Wherever they are, whatever they are doing Franciscans bring a joyful openness and something of that simplicity that attracts so many to St Francis.

The friars are involved in a wide variety of Christian undertakings: from teaching to the caring apostolate; from Parish work to the giving of retreats and days of recollection; from theological studies to manual.

There is nothing a Franciscan cannot do in the name of Christ: rather, it is that special Franciscan joy emanating from the soul of St Francis that defines those who put on the Franciscan habit.

A community of Franciscan Conventual Friars have looked after St Patrick's since 1964. These grey-habited friars belong to an international fraternity which spans the globe, working in over thirty countries.

The friars strive to live the Gospel inspired by the example of their founder, St Francis of Assisi.
